“DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — This year’s WSOY Community Food Drive was historic for Macon County, bringing in the most donated items ever.

One organization feeling that impact is Northeast Community Fund, and Executive Director Shekila Smith said every bit of it matters.

“No donation is too small. Cash donations, food donations,” Smith said. “I’m so proud of our schools and students and families around Decatur who really made a great effort to put out food and get excited about the cause.”

The Northeast Community Fund has served the community for years, offering food, clothing, and volunteer opportunities for local families. After the Oasis Center closed, Smith said this food drive came at the right time.”
